How are we going to Invest the funds?

We understand that needs and situations vary from family to family. The support kits – which we will describe below – respond to a completed survey of the general needs that we have identified in the territory.
If we manage to meet the objective of this campaign, we would be benefiting between 100 and 150 people, located according to the profile of their particular needs (families in the city and families with or without access to planting their traditional gardens), and following the criteria of justice, opportunity and efficiency that guides us. This is our base budget, however part of our advisory council is made up of territorial liaisons and cultural managers from Leticia who are constantly updating us on the reality that is being lived in the territory; based on these weekly updates, we will manage the resources in order to supply the real needs in order of urgency.

Short and mid-term goals:

We are receiving contributions in kind and/or funding to send the following kits: Bio-security Kit, Nutritional Kit, School Kits, Food Sovereignty Kit, and Preventive Isolation Kit. Additionally, we will invest in the creation and dissemination of ethno-pedagogical materials.

Who is going to recieve the Kits:

-The Indigenous Guard of the communities of the kilometers and the river that are ensuring territorial control without the necessary equipment.

-Neighborhoods in Leticia affected by the flood: Simón Bolívar, Xingú, Victoria Regia, Uribe Uribe and San José.
-The Elder’s Home of Leticia where several Indigenous grandparents live.

  6. Bereavement Fund: for urgent support to families who have lost loved ones as a result of the pandemic.
  7. Ethno-pedagogical material: to generate campaigns that help expand and unify the information on the care necessary to prevent and manage the spread of the virus. Emanates from the deep respect towards the cultural practices, the cosmogony and the idiosyncrasy of Amazonian peoples.
  8. Support for sustainable ventures: with raw materials and equipment for local family enterprises focused on trades that encourage the creation and use of biosecurity and personal hygiene elements such as: hygiene, biosecurity and self-care. Support for circular economies through the purchase of local crafts and food.
  9. Support the creation of medicinal gardens and community apothecaries, uniting Amazonian ethnopharmacology with various intercultural contributions from western herbalism: tinctures, ointments, oleates, hydrosols, plasters, ointments and extracts of local plants. This in order to strengthen containment strategies from local medicine.
  10. Support for circular economy

Achievements to date:

So far, with the contributions and collaborations we have received, we have sent 3 shipments with some of the aforementioned elements: biosafety kits, nutritional kits, awnings and natural medicine, among other things. With the generous support of the Colcharter ambulance planes, several relatives in the territory of Leticia, and the accompaniment of the Traditional Indigenous Authorities, we have managed to deliver these resources to the San Rafael de Leticia Hospital, the Fundación Leticia Clinic, the Local Ancianato, the Health Center from Puerto Nariño, several families from the urban area and communities surrounding Leticia, among others.
